Indie Scholars ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Indie Scholars mobile application. This policy describes how we collect, use, and share your information.

Information We Collect

Account Information: Email address used to sign in via your Circle.so community membership.
Profile Data: Name, avatar, bio, and headline as configured in your Circle.so profile.
Usage Data: Posts, comments, chat messages, event RSVPs, and direct messages you create within the app.
Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for crash reporting and diagnostics.
Notification Delivery Data: An app installation identifier, Expo push token, platform, app variant, Circle member identifier, notification cursors, and delivery status. Direct-message contents are not stored or sent through the push service.

How We Use Your Information

To authenticate you and provide access to your Circle.so community.
To display community content (spaces, posts, events, chats).
To send push notifications about community activity (with your permission).
To improve app performance and fix bugs via crash reports.

Data Storage and Security

Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device using platform-native secure storage (iOS Keychain). We do not store your password or Circle access and refresh tokens on our notification server. Notification delivery diagnostics are retained for up to 30 days and then removed automatically. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.

Third-Party Services

We use Circle.so to power community features. Your community data is governed by Circle.so's Privacy Policy. We use Expo to deliver push notifications and Sentry for crash reporting. Push tokens and delivery metadata are used only to provide app functionality, not for advertising or tracking.

Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the app. When you request account deletion, your data will be removed within 30 days. You can also contact us at support@indiescholars.com.

Children's Privacy

Our app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Contact us at support@indiescholars.com for any privacy-related requests.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app.
